Stephen Geddes

Stephen Geddes is a former  educator and full time sculptor working outside Philadelphia. He received his BS in Art Education from the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse and his MFA in Sculpture from Ohio University in Athens.  Geddes also studied Forensic Facial Reconstructive Sculpture at Oklahoma University in Norman.

Stephen Geddes has completed commissions in carved wood and cast bronze for Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Airport, Great American Ball Park, Cincinnati, OH,  St.Mary's Hospital, Wheeling, WVa and the Wheeling Health and Wellness Center, Wheeling, WVa.

Figurative sculpture has been Geddes principle focus throughout his career.  Working in carved wood, forged metal, wax and assorted media he has created a distinctive body of work exhibiting a broad spectrum of imagery.  Many works are involved with formal issues, while others evolve in to allegory and satire.  Geddes influences are eclectic, ranging from the German Renaissance master Tilman Riemenschneider to Thomas Nast and HC Westerman. Geddes exhibits his work nationally, most recently at The Center for Contemporary Political Art in Washington D.C.
