Artist Statement:
"Early in life I was forced to realize that beauty is not always timeless. Sometimes beauty vanishes as quickly as it appears. Sometimes the brief passing of a beautiful thing does not even consciously register - goose bumps are the only memory.
My quest with the water series is to capture the hidden beauty found in fluid natural forms. The forms in a stream of water are ever changing and brief. But the magic behind water is not only the form, but how the form interacts with light and the surrounding environment. This is the intersection I choose to explore.
The images represent a brief moment of beauty captured from a free-falling, pencil thin stream of water. The presentation is large, which enhances the abstraction. The idea is to draw the viewer into a freeform yet familiar sculpture which is unrepeatable and unique." |
