The Tobin-Hewett Gallery is pleased to present "Couples: For the Love of Glass", a tribute to collaborative efforts by couples working in contemporary glass.

The exhibit draws attention to the surprising number of glass artists who have successfully combined art and romance. The fine-arts medium requires collaboration. The multi-step processes of conceptualizing, designing, glass blowing and flame work lend themselves to teamwork.

Some glass artists collaborate at every stage. Others take different responsibilities - one designs the art and the other executes the design. Some only collaborate at the end - seeking constructive criticism.

Whatever the method, the work produced during these "couplings" can only be described as magnificent.
