The Marta Hewett Gallery is pleased to feature works by a group of artists working within the Cincinnati area. Each of these artists exhibits a very distinctive vision.
Brian Higer's impeccable, blown forms are only the beginnings of his work. Each piece requires endless hours of design preparation, intense cutting and final hand polishing. His resulting imagery is startling.
Steve Meyer has incorporated traditional copper foil technique into his intricate, glass mosaic works. These three dimensional forms glitter and shift with the intense color of the sea creatures they represent. Ted Jeckering, a recent graduate of Stephen Powell's glass program presents highly organic, sculptural works. Blown and sandblasted, the surface intensifies the implied movement of these closed forms.
Margot Gotoff, an accomplished sculptor of national acclaim, in bronze, continues to explore the classical beauty of the human figure in her monumental, kiln cast pieces. Darren Goodman presents a new series of fused glass wall panels that illustrate the wonderful capabilities of glass as a layering medium. |
