The Marta Hewett Gallery is pleased to feature new works in our third exhibition for Italian artist, Afro Celotto. It is no surprise that works by Afro Celotto radiate an overwhelming energy and exuberance. Afro Celotto was born in the city of Venice in 1963 and grew up speaking a language that makes even the most benign comment sound sensational. The city of Venice itself can be described as nothing less than sensory overload. Afro's captivating works contain the essence of his breathtaking home, "The City of Light". Each piece the artist creates is a dizzying exercise in rich color, movement and texture.
Afro began his career as an apprentice at the age of 14 and performed as an assistant, and then Master, at studios including Effetre International and La Murrina. He recently established his independent studio on the island of Murano, which has allowed him to immerse himself solely in the creation of his signature works. |
